Paul Kennedy, D.Phil., the J. Richardson Dilworth Professor of History and Director of International Security Studies at Yale University, is renowned for his scholarship on international politics and economics. A native of England, he earned degrees from Newcastle University and the University of Oxford. Dr. Kennedy holds many honorary degrees and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, the American Philosophical Society, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 2000 for services to history and elected a Fellow of the British Academy in June 2003. His presentation will examine the shifts in global power during the last 500 years, with a concentration on World Wars I and II.
